The Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) turns 22 this year. In 2020, the festival didn’t miss a beat and put on one of the first big virtual events with amazing success.
This year is also virtual — and that’s not a bad thing. From May 4-7, there is a jam-packed schedule featuring panel discussions from musicians and industry types, one-on-one interviews with major artists in both the alternative and pop worlds. (In fact, I am interviewing Ana Tijoux on opening day.)
The most exciting part of the event, though, is always the showcases. Normally, they’re held in venues throughout New York City, but this year you can have your pick every night of the conference. I have seen some major artists get their start at LAMC and you can, too. Go do it now, seriously.
Think of this episode as a little cheat sheet. Here are the six bands we’re most excited to see. If you don’t get a chance to check their showcases, we recommend you at least tap the links below and give them a listen. The fresh new talent coming up in the Latin music world never ceases to amaze and inspire us — we hope these artists make you feel the same.
