STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York Hip-Hop royalty was in the house at the St. George Theatre Saturday as a group of artists headlined by Busta Rhymes, the LOX, Funkmaster Flex and the Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon thrilled the near-1,000 people in attendance.
The event, dubbed “Legacy of Hip-Hop Stop the Violence Concert” was put on by the K Woods Foundation and the Waterteam seeking to put an end to the violence in the community amidst the recent uptick in crime; and who better to communicate that than these names, all of which have had long careers that have spanning over three decades.

A previous incarnation of the concert was originally slated for SIUH Community Park in August , but was postponed due to technical difficulties, according to the organizers.
The St. George Theatre, which has undergone a bevy of renovations in recent months , proved to be a fitting Thanksgiving dessert particularly for nostalgic fans of the 90′s and 2000′s Hip-Hop era.
