As 2021 nears its end, artists across the world are being celebrated for their contribution to the industry during the past year.
Rolling Stone released its list of the 20 Best Hip-Hop albums of 2021 and some are unimpressed by the fact that Playboi Carti’s ‘Whole Lotta Red’ tops it.
Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red tops Rolling Stone’s list
Rolling Stone released its list of 20 Best Hip-Hop albums of 2021 on December 15. And now, fans are debating over it as some feel there were better albums than ‘Whole Lotta Red’.
Under the description, it read, “Carti stakes ground in the current generation’s sonic sensibility and delivers one of the most forward-thinking rap records since Kanye West’s Yeezus.“
Whole Lotta was released at the end of 2020, on the day of Christmas. The album consists of 20 tracks in total.
The complete album is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.
Twitter disagrees with the album’s ranking
Many have pointed out on Twitter that there were better albums that deserved to be placed on top of the Hip-Hop list over ‘Whole Lotta Red’.
One tweeted, “Rolling Stone should not be allowed to write about hip hop. They are strangers to the culture”
Adding to the above tweet another said, “This is why Rolling Stone or any of these publications opinions don’t matter”
One asked, “Did rolling stone forget to listen to The Melodic Blue??”
“Hey @RollingStone you guys should be banned from discussing Rap from now on! How do you have J. Cole at #20 and PlayboiCarti at #1!?! How Sway!?! On what planet!! My goodness!” tweeted another frustrated fan.
