When it comes to cities that famous people call home, most celebs opt for Los Angeles and Hollywood in Sunny California or the New York City metropolis. The city has also become a film and television production center, with productions such as The Walking Dead, Ozark, and more being produced there. 1. Cardi B
Rapper and entertainer Cardi B lives it up big in the ATL. In 2019, it was reported that she and husband Offset bought some serious real estate, which included a whopping five homes in metro Atlanta. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the houses bought in this deal were not large, but the couple also reportedly purchased a $5.8 million, 22,000-square-foot mansion in the Buckhead area of the city.
2. Elton John
When it comes to legendary musicians, it doesn’t get much bigger than Elton John. The music giant owns various home around the world, but one of the places he hangs his hat is a high-rise condo in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, GA. John bought the first part of his condo, which was originally a 5,000-square-foot space, in the early ’90s. Since then, he has bought up other condos in the building and now owns over 12,000 square feet of the building. John told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 1998 that he loves Atlanta because it feels like “home.”

Ludacris is another musical artist who lives in Atlanta, and his roots in the city run deep. The rapper moved to Atlanta when he was nine years old, he went to high school there and the city of Atlanta served to shape his artistry. Ludacris later went on to become one of the artists who helped develop Atlanta as a center for hip hop music. Ludacris also lives in the Buckhead area, and he doesn’t intend to leave any time soon.
“Atlanta is synonymous with the word ‘real,’ especially when you talk about the people and integrity,” he told Simply Buckhead. “This is where my roots are, and this is where I continue to be inspired to write music. I wouldn’t want to move anywhere else. I feel like I would lose myself if I left Atlanta permanently.”
4. Gucci Mane
Gucci Mane is another artist who helped develop hip hop and trap music in Atlanta. Like Ludacris, Gucci Mane also moved to Atlanta when he was 9 years old. The famed rapper, or the “East Atlanta Santa” as some call him, has been said to rent a 6,600-square-foot home in Marietta, outside of the city.
5. Zac Brown
Most country singers tend to call Nashville, Tennessee home due to the city being the center of the country music industry, but Georgia-native Zac Brown of the Zac Brown Band has never strayed from his home state. Although Brown does not live in Atlanta proper, he has been reported to have a home between Fayetteville and Peachtree City, about 30 miles outside the city. The singer also has a 400-acre complex called Camp Southern Ground, which hosts programs for kids and veterans.
6. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson
Blockbuster actor Dwayne Johnson may seem like a Hollywood guy, but he is another celeb who has chosen to call Atlanta home. In 2019, he bought a 46-acre estate about 45 minutes north of the city. According to TMZ, The Rock fell in love with the area while visiting his grandmother. “Funny cause it hit me yesterday as I was driving back to Atlanta, that my life is the craziest it’s ever been and I didn’t know much I TRULY NEEDED to go to a place where things can really slow down for me and I can just breathe,” he said.
7. Jeff Foxworthy
Comedian Jeff Foxworthy, famous for his “You might be a redneck” jokes, grew up in Atlanta, and he still keeps his roots there. He had a longtime residence in the John’s Creek area outside the city, and he’s been known to get involved with the Atlanta community, leading a weekly Bible study for men living at an Atlanta-area homeless shelter.
8. NeNe Leakes
Anyone who’s a fan of The Real Housewives of Atlanta will know of Nene Leakes, who was a cast member for the first seven seasons of the show. In 2016, she bought a $2 million 9,511-square-foot mansion in Duluth, Georgia, not too far from Atlanta.
9. Porsha Williams
Porsha Williams is another celebrity from the The Real Housewives of Atlanta who still resides in the city. Williams began appearing on the show in its fifth season, and she also lives in Duluth, purchasing a $1.5 million home in 2016.
10. Tyler Perry
Tyler Perry has been making people laugh for well over a decade, and while the actor, director and producer was born in New Orleans, he makes Atlanta his home today. Perry also brings his business to the city he loves, as his film production studio, Tyler Perry Studios is based there. The Walking Dead and The Black Panther, among other productions, have been produced there.
