Gucci Mane announced his new album Ice Daddy would be arriving on Friday (June 18) earlier this month. The 1017 Records boss returned with more details regarding the project via Instagram on Wednesday (June 16) with the tracklist and the caption, “Big GuWop Dropping new album Tomorrow night #IceDaddy pre save link in bio.”

As typical for a Gucci Mane album, the 17-track project is a star-studded affair with contributions from 2 Chainz, E-40, Young Dolph, Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, Project Pat and more. But perhaps one of the more intriguing collaborations comes from Gucci Mane, the currently incarcerated Pooh Shiesty and Sir Mix-A-Lot who team up for the aptly titled “Posse On Bouldercrest.”

Granted, it doesn’t have the same ring to it Sir Mix-A-Lot’s original “Posse On Broadway” did in 1988, but nonetheless it’s a fitting homage to the veteran MC.

“Posse On Broadway” comes from Sir Mix-A-Lot’s debut album Swass, four years before his breakthrough hit “Baby Got Back” would make its way to the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Originally released on NastyMix and re-released on Rick Rubin’s label Def American Recordings, the album introduced the Hip Hop world to the colorful storytelling of the Seattle-bred rapper and quickly earned platinum status from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) thanks to “Posse On Broadway,” “Rippin” and “Square Dance Rap.”

The Broadway in the song refers to a street in Seattle’s Capitol Hill district on which the Mix-A-Lot Posse got “lots of good grip from the 50 series tires.” The track itself is about exactly what the title suggests — Sir Mix-A-Lot and his posse go cruising down Broadway and run into all kinds of shenanigans.

As for Gucci Mane’s version, fans will have to wait and see what the “Posse On Bouldercrest” accomplishes, but it’s presumably going to be about riding around Atlanta. Gucci Mane has already dropped two singles from the Ice Daddy album — “Like 34 & 8” with Pooh Shiesty and “Shit Crazy” featuring BIG30.

Ice Daddy will serve as the follow-up to 2020’s compilation album So Icy Summer and 2019’s East Atlanta Santa 3. In October 2020, Gucci Mane released another compilation album with 1017 Records titled So Icy Gang Vol. 1. His gold-selling collaboration with Latto (formerly known as Mulatto), “Muwop,” dropped last July.
